Recreation

Step out of civilization for a while and enjoy the fresh air and weather at Quartz Mountain Resort. Whether you are coming to the Oklahoma resort for a group bonding event, meeting, or family vacation, there are plenty of activities for you to partake in order to relax and regroup. Below are some of the things that you should do in order to make the most of your trip to the Quartz Mountain Resort, Arts and Conference Center.

WINDMILL WINERY
Windmill Winery is located in the city of Roosevelt less than an hour away from Quartz Mountain Resort. Take a scenic drive on a Saturday afternoon for a tasting when the winery is open to the public or call to set up a luncheon or tour. The weather conditions in Southwestern Oklahoma make for great grapes and Windmill Winery's grapes are so good that excess ones are sold to local vineyards. Windmill's wines are made from Oklahoma grapes, meaning you'll have the opportunity to purchase a special bottle when you come here. Enjoy a free wine tasting on Saturdays from 1-5 pm. Bring a bottle back to the lodge and sip some wine on your patio as the sun sets around you.

GOLF
The Wichita Mountains create a beautiful backdrop for the Quartz Mountain golf course, located just outside the resort in the State Park. Enjoy 18 holes and then head back to the Sundance Café.

GO ON A HAYRIDE AT QUARTZ MOUNTAIN STABLES
Rustle up a dozen or so of your favorite pioneers and take a hayride through Quartz Mountain. During an hour-long trip, you can snuggle up in the straw and hear legends and folklore about the area as narrated by a modern day cowboy. Then come back to the campfire and sing-along to Rodeo tunes while roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. Groups of fourteen or more can arrange for private hay rides at any time, while an adventure is open to everyone on Saturdays at 7:00 pm.

LAKE ALTUS FISHING
Come to Quartz Mountain if you are a fan of fresh trout. From November to March is trout season and the dams at lake Altus are full of these tasty big fish. This is a prime fishing spot year-round as there is ample opportunity to catch largemouth bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, hybrid striped bass, and white bass. It’s also a tranquil setting without bumpy waters so you’ll have a good time whether or not the fish feel like coming out. Don’t worry if you don’t catch anything, you can always come back to Quartz Mountain Resort and Park and have a bite at the Sunset Café. Try the crab cakes for an appetizer (sautéed and served with Cajun remoulade) and then enjoy the trout piccata for a main course (served crisp golden brown with rice pilaf and fresh seasonal vegetables.) If you’re lucky enough to have caught your own trout, then order the cedar plank salmon (with roasted garlic feta cheese mashed potatoes.)
